New England Forum: Early arrivals

I am decended from a John Sanford, according to the book of John Sanford, who is declared in the book to have arrived in Boston in 1605 from England. He arrived at the age of 15 and died in Providence at age 55.
I have rummaged around in various sites, not real dilligent research, and cannot find any mention of Boston even existing in 1605.
I have looked for maps and charters and such but I'm an amateur researcher.
Can anyone help me.

If the person posting this message left their e-mail address, we inserted some random characters to prevent spammers from harvesting their address.
